A Fifth Small Thing for You to Know

Be Strong. Be Thankful. Be Happy. Be Patient.

Another Small Thing for You to Know:

Be Open-Minded.

Society today is very… complex, fragile, and diverse. I want you to keep an open mind about things that are new or foreign to you, in all aspects of your life.

Some people in your family have a very hard time with this, as they are set in their ways and were taught different things in their time.

You, however, my love, will be raised to keep an open mind and accept many different types of lifestyles and ideas.

I’m not trying to be an extremist and tell you to shape your beliefs to whatever society wants you to, I still want you to stand for what you believe in, I just want you to be open-minded enough to consider different sides of things throughout your life.

By all means let’s be open-minded, but not so open-minded that our brains drop out. Richard Dawkins

Without an open-minded mind, you can never be a great success. Martha Stewart

Post Script:

This week you are the size of a sweet potato, which is perfect for Thanksgiving! Mom and dad are so excited to talk all about you this holiday season, and we will definitely be finding out whether you are a girl sweet potato or boy sweet potato next week!

Here’s a ‘first glimpse’ at your growth so far, love! (16 weeks I was oddly bloated, so that wasn’t all you little boo).

Congratulations! I’m following so many pregnant bloggers right now and it’s making me jealous and broody.

And I hear you on the closed-minded relatives. I am not raising a bigoted daughter. I speak up when they start. She doesn’t know what the heck is going on, but she will soon enough and I don’t want her thinking it’s okay to have those attitudes.

I agree completely. I don’t want my child to think that what they say/think is okay, but I also want them to still love them and accept them as family.
